As President of faulkner edc, Tommy serves to lead the company both as the technical lead for each of our service lines and also as a community leader having served in various organizations locally and nationally focused on design and construction best practices and “safe buildings.” He began his career at a Naval Shipyard specializing in the design, welding and fitment of Naval Submarines. Since that time Mr. Faulkner has provided engineering expertise, special inspections or construction services to over $2 billion dollars of successful construction.
The engineering services he has developed, managed and directed throughout my tenure include Structural, Civil, Environmental, Mechanical, Electrical, Fire Protection, and Geotechnical. In addition to the engineering competencies in which I have developed and maintained responsible charge, I have also directed and managed Construction Management, General Construction, Special Inspections, Materials Testing, Laboratory and General Building Inspection Services. Each of these services when combined is representative of the breadth and depth of services offered by Mr. Faulkner and Faulkner edc.
His qualifications include licensing as a Professional Engineer, as a Licensed General Contractor, as a Master of Special Inspections and as a Realtor. In addition he has academic and practical experience in the field of Architecture. Examples of his community leadership include various committees tasked with creating guidelines for special inspections, design, and construction best practices. Specifically he served as a member of the ICC Structural Code Development Committee which afforded him the opportunity to couple his design knowledge with an in depth understanding of International and North Carolina code requirements.
Mr. Faulkner has received awards both for his personal contributions to the design and construction community as well as in leadership of his teams in delivering successful and impactful projects. Examples of these projects include Carter Finley Field Replacement at NCSU, Green Square Complex in Downtown Raleigh, AB Coombs Elementary Rain Garden and more, In addition he has received the President’s award from the Construction Management Association of America as well as a Chairman’s award from the American Council of Engineering Companies for significant contributions to the AEC community.
